The UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro or simply Euro , was the 16th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).[1] To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Championship competition, UEFA president Michel Platini declared that the tournament would be hosted in several nations as a "romantic" one-off event, with 11 cities in 11 UEFA countries each providing venues for the tournament, making it the second senior international tournament in history after the AFC Asian Cup to have more than two nations co-hosting it.[2]
Portugal were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the round of 16 by Belgium.[3]Italy won their second European Championship title by beating England on penalties in the final following a 1–1 draw after extra time.[4] The win came exactly on the 39th

Italien besegrade England efter straffavgörande med 3–2 då matchen slutat 1–1 efter full tid och förlängning. Italien tog sin andra EM-titel, 53 år efter den första (), den längsta perioden mellan två EM-titlar.[4] Finalen var den sjunde att gå till förlängning (efter , , , , och ) och den andra att avgöras efter straffar (efter ). Italien blev även det första laget att vinna två straffsparksläggningar under ett och samma Europamästerskap.[5] Italienaren Leonardo Bonucci blev utsedd till matchens spelare,[2] medan hans lagkamrat Gianluigi Donnarumma, blev utsedd till turneringens spelare, den första målvakten att vinna utmärkelsen.[6]

The UEFA Euro final was an association football match that took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on 11 July , to determine the winners of UEFA Euro It was the sixteenth final of the UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial tournament contested by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of UEFA to decide the champions of Europe. Originally scheduled for 12 July , the match had been postponed along with the rest of the tournament due to the COVID pandemic in Europe. The match was contested between Italy, in their fourth Euro final, and England, in their first ever Euro final, and just their second final at any major tournament, after the FIFA World Cup final.
